Examination Irregularities
Definition
An Examination Irregularity is any conduct compromising the integrity of a WISE examination. Examination Irregularities include, but are not limited to:
- Unauthorised access to question papers;
- Impersonation;
- Use of prohibited materials;
- Collusion;
- Any other conduct that undermines the fairness or integrity of the examination.
Consequences
Where an Examination Irregularity is proven, WEQSC may:
- Cancel the affected examination result;
- Withdraw the credential issued on the basis of the affected result;
- Suspend or terminate the accreditation of the school, where the school is implicated;
- Refer the matter to the appropriate authorities in the jurisdiction for investigation as a criminal matter, where the conduct is deliberate and serious.
Procedure
The procedure for the investigation and determination of an Examination Irregularity is set out in the Accountability section of this portal. It provides for:
- Notice to the candidate and the school of the alleged irregularity;
- An opportunity for the candidate and the school to respond;
- A decision by the Examinations Committee;
- A right of appeal to the Accreditation Committee.
Reporting an Irregularity
Any person who becomes aware of an Examination Irregularity, or of conduct that may constitute an Examination Irregularity, should report it to WEQSC at complaints@weqsc.org.
Protection Against Retaliation
WEQSC prohibits retaliation against any person who makes a report in good faith. A school that retaliates against a reporter commits a Critical Breach.
Conclusion
The integrity of the WISE Examination System depends on the vigilance of all participants. All irregularity procedures not expressly set out in this portal must follow the Secretariat's official bylaws.
